AACSB and BAN-PT Indonesia Announce Agreement
Tampa, FL, USA (March 2, 2021) – AACSB International (AACSB) and National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) of Indonesia have entered a cooperative agreement to enhance quality business education in Indonesia. Through the agreement, both organizations intend to explore synergies, share expertise, and combine efforts to advance the value of and streamline accreditation in Indonesia.
For over 100 years, AACSB accreditation has represented the highest standard of quality in business education in the world. As the longest-serving and largest business education network, AACSB connects lifelong learners, educators, and businesses worldwide. Today, a total of 882 institutions across 57 countries and territories have earned AACSB accreditation in business. Furthermore, 189 institutions maintain supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.
“It is AACSB’s privilege to enter this agreement with the Board of National Accreditation for Higher Education in Indonesia,” said Geoff Perry, AACSB’s executive vice president and chief officer of Asia Pacific. “BAN-PT’s extensive experience and reputation will propel us as we jointly pursue opportunities for growth and streamline the accreditation process for business schools in the country. AACSB believes that business schools are called to create positive societal impact, and this agreement will further instill that tenet within Indonesian business schools.”
On the other hand, Prof. T. Basaruddin said: “Having the agreement with AACSB, it is a good opportunity for BAN-PT to improve its accreditation quality processes through collaborations with AACSB and, at the same time, helping AACSB to put up Indonesian national needs and contexts in its accreditation businesses in the country”.
BAN-PT, established in 1994, is the national independent agency responsible for higher education accreditation in Indonesia, with more than 19,000 study programs and 2,500 higher education institutions accredited to date. The agreement is in effect for five years, with an opportunity for renewal at the end of the period.
