MQA and BAN-PT Sign MOU to Strengthen Higher Education Quality Assurance
On April 22nd, 2024, in Putrajaya, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Badan Akreditasi Nasional Perguruan Tinggi (BAN-PT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance collaboration on quality assurance and accreditation in higher education.
Witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir, Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia, the MOU signifies a commitment from both agencies to work together more closely for mutual benefit. Professor Ari Purbayanto, Ph.D., Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT, and Dato’ Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shatar Bin Sabran, CEO of MQA, pledged to collaborate based on reciprocity.
This MOU establishes a framework for cooperation in key areas such as sharing best practices in quality assurance and accreditation procedures, undertaking joint assessment and accreditation activities, and building capacity through staff exchange programs. By working together, MQA and BAN-PT aim to create a more robust and harmonized approach to quality assurance in both countries’ higher education systems, ultimately benefiting students and institutions alike.
